Projects
Below is my first madpad project. These are the sounds I came up with to start off my first madpad song. Before we started this, I did not know much about the topic. My standards for this project, were for me to be able to create sounds using objects around the area. Others looking at this project would probably think of it as being something different and unique, because of the fact it doesn't necessarily involve any real instrument. I enjoyed working with this and creating sounds that I wanted to use. The sounds came from using different things around the classroom to create a song. It was a very cool experience and had a lot of fun using it.

For this project it was a similar sort of thing we did with our first name project except we recorded our last name. I wasn't extremely familiar with using the audio on garage band coming into this so it was something different for me to learn. The only thing I really found frustrating about it was trying to get the right tune to sound good with the beat of my last name. This process was extremely similar to the first name project besides the fact I just used a different word. One thing I would really like to improve on would be to better match the beat with the audio I put into it. We put in the effects along with it to create a nice song. Using different kinds of instruments we were able to get our last names to have a solid beat along with it to create a cool sounding song.

Below now is the song that I created with the sounds made up with the madpad app. It was extremely fun and different because the song was based off of sounds that was created with objects around the classroom. This was a very unique project due to the fact that there was not necessarily any real instruments involved. Whatever could make a sound around the room could be used in a loop fashion to create a steady solid beat.

Above is the spooky sound song, where we used garage band to create a steady, scary sounding tune. We were able to use the cello as our main sound and basing it with other instruments and audio. I enjoyed this work because as the semester has gone on I have gotten better at using garage band and thought I was able to create a solid creepy sound. The fact I was able to create something I enjoyed along with meeting personal standards I thought was very satisfying. If someone else were looking at this piece I would hope for them to get the idea that they almost feel a little freaked out just because of the creepy sounds that were put in. This was one of my favorite projects due to the fact that it uses a lot of creativity and different sounds that help to make it sound as spooky as possible.

Below Is the first name project, this was a very fun project for me to work on in garage band. We recorded our voices saying our first name and we were able to put musical effects with it to create a song. This piece was extremely similar to the first name project other than the fact we just used a different word. I was satisfied with being able to create a tune that went along with my first name and was the first thing we worked on in garage band. I would probably do it differently now knowing I have more experience with this app and would definitely match it a little better I think at this point. If I could change one main thing about it, I would probably just try to make the two sounds more in rhythm rather than spread out all over. The audio itself could be adjusted in different pitches to go along with whatever the instruments were we were applying to it.

Above is our singing fingers project, this was a very unique project. It started off with us using our finger running it across the ipad screen while speaking to create sound effects, and a tune. This was kind of a tough process because it was the first time I've attempted anything like this making a story by moving my finger along the screen making a picture. It was satisfying creating the story you wanted and also a neat drawing to go along with it. I would do it differently now by making a more detailed photo that the story would work better to go with. The main goal if I ever work on this again would be for me to work on a better, more understanding drawing that would have a better story line to go with it. It took some getting used to speaking and running your finger to create the picture you wanted. Overall I enjoyed working on this project and I hope to do it again at some point in the future.

Above is our appsmash project which was our first group project that we worked on in this class. Five of us worked together to create our own sounds along with tunes to go with our narrators story that they told. We first assigned each person a different role in the group and then we were able to combine what we all worked on to create a neat story line. I think we all met our standards with this project creating a story that people are able to follow along to and understand what was happening. We could probably do it differently next time by coming up with a better story which was probably our main weakness. I was real thrilled to see my classmates work together to create this project and have some fun along the way working on it. This was a great group project and we enjoyed working on this together.

Above is my rock star one and two projects, that we worked on in garage band using the drum kit. I didn't know much about this topic coming into it, I never really have done drum work before so this one I thought was really cool to work on. Rock star one was a song I made on the actual drums while the rock star two was made on the drum machine. The only thing I really found frustrating about it was my lack of experience using drums so I couldn't quite come up with a steady beat that I was hoping for but I know that would come with practice. If someone else were to look at my project I think they would learn that I am a beginner at this type of thing and have not had much experience working on this instrument in garage band. One goal for myself next time would be to take more time to create a better beat that can go a little bit better with the rhythm I created.

Above is my thing link project, a project involving the drum set and listing the basic units of it along with some videos to show what they are capable of doing. I didn't know a whole lot about this subject coming into it considering this is the first music related class I have ever taken but it was a great experience for me to learn along the way. My goals for meeting this were to have each part of the drums listed correctly and in a way people looking at it can understand. I hope when people look at this they are able to understand and learn the different parts of the drums and be able to use that as a key for if they ever plan to learn to play the drums in the future. As I look at my project the one thing I would hope to improve on or have done differently would be add sound effects to each part of the drum so people who look at this will be able to click on the part of the drum they would like to hear and get audio to go with it.
To the right, is my blues project, that we worked on in garage band. This was a fun project to work on, we first started with an auto play that could have been done either with a keyboard, smart strings, or smart guitar to get a rhythm. We then added a bass, drum, then created our own solo using the blues scale. It all ended up with a total of 24 bars with an A and B section. Coming into this, we all had a pretty good amount of experience at this point using garage band so we were able to create a solid song using our previous skill. This piece really revealed to me that I have been learning the different tools in garage band and can use them all to my advantage. This was similar to other pieces of work that we did because of the use of garage band and similar instruments. That helped a lot along the way to create a song with a better understanding of the app. Next time I hope I am able to create an even better song as I continue to practice using these apps and get a better feel.

Above is my loop made from the thumbjam app on the Ipad. This was the first time I really experimented with this, and I really enjoyed working on it. We started off by making a simple loop with an instrument, then layered it with other instruments to create a brief song. This was more of an introduction to the app to get a better feel for it and I enjoyed working on this piece.

Above we worked on our project used on Loopy HD and it was definitely the most interesting thing, I think we have done in here. This caused us to maybe come a bit out of our comfort zone to create a very unique beat boxing mix by using this app. The way it worked was, we first came up with our beat to use and tapped on to one of the loops and recorded our beat. After we did that, we would use the other five we had left over to layer a beat right over the last one. This was super cool and I enjoyed working on it despite the fact if I was home alone I could probably make an even cooler one without worrying about others hearing. If I knew I was at least halfway decent at beat boxing, I then wouldn't care if anyone was hearing me. But because I am pretty rough at it to start out, I kind of wanted to keep it to me this time. I did not know a thing about this subject going into it, I have never used this app before or even really attempted to make a beat boxing mix so this was new. I felt like I met the standards necessary to complete this project despite not being the most talented beat boxer out there. I would probably do a few things more differently for next time. I kind of rushed a couple beats and if I maybe took my time with them a bit more they could have come out a little better. As I explored with this app I can see it has serious potential of being a lot of fun. Simple rhythmic tunes layering over one another can help create a fun time making music. I definitely hope to use this again in the future and had fun working on it.

Above, I have worked on my DM1 project, which was an app that is basically an advanced drum unit and can be used to create cool sounds and different beats without requiring necessarily any musical talents. I really enjoyed using this one due to it's wide variety of different options to use and how they can be used to create a song. We then after we made our song, loaded it into garage band where we could also make a few edits if necessary. I enjoyed working on this one and look forward to do more songs on the DM1 app in the future.

Above is where we used the Symphony Pro app versus using the NotateMe Now app which is below. They both showed a lot of similarities, as well as differences. In the Symphony Pro app, it involved you being given different notes that you could put in to create your tune. I personally found this one being a little more difficult and one I didn't enjoy as much because of the fact I have never had a musical background so it made things a little bit more difficult for me to throw different notes in to create a decent song. I enjoyed using NotateMe Now more because I think it allows you to be more creative. It gives you the option to draw in the notes yourself wherever you want making it easier to navigate through and manage yourself. At the same time I had a little confusion at first figuring it all out but I can tell it is going to be an app I will enjoy to use in the future. Overall I favored NotateMe Now more for that purpose but still will give Symphony Pro its chance as well.

Above, is my song made in the iReal Pro app, which was definitely something that required me to get used to. I have zero background when it comes to throwing in notes to create a song, causing this to take some getting used to. After I figured it out with practice I then realized how much I began to enjoy it. I still need some practice with it so I can better master it but really started to enjoy it as I kept working with it. Below, is the Chordbot App which I personally enjoyed to use more than the iReal Pro app. It was very easy to navigate, and I was able to adjust the song I thought much more easily. This is a better app for someone who is a beginner with music like me but might not be quite as precise as the other. It was really self explanatory with not a whole lot of options which caused it to be easier to adjust certain things that you wanted. Overall I enjoyed using both of these apps with the iReal Pro being my favorite of the two.

Above is my final project that I have been working on for the course of the last few class periods. This project caused me to stretch my creativity due to the fact that it required me to use multiple apps combined into garage band, as well as creating a song much longer than what I was used to in this class. I really enjoyed the freedom of having all the options on the ipad to use to help me create this piece. I used apps such as DM1, Loopy HD, and thumbjam to help me combine different sounds into one in garage band. I was then able to edit the sounds of each instrument so it all could sound well together. I started off with my basic intro and then piled on other sounds on top of it as the song continues. It resulted in me trying just about every instrument to find the ones that would sound well with what I was trying to create. After I created the song I then used the iReal pro app which you can see below, to help me organize the chords I used with this song. My favorite part was finding a beat I could use throughout most the song and have it as a base point. The toughest part I thought was using audiobus to import some sounds from other apps. Eventually I got all the sounds in after a few tries and became very satisfied with what I was given. I have learned so much in this class over the course of this semester and this project helped me to express what I have been practicing and enjoyed working through all my projects.
